Linn-Mar Robotics held a qualifier tournament for FIRST Tech Challenge on Nov. 9 2013. There were 18 teams that attended from Iowa and Missouri. In this year’s game BLOCK PARTY!, each team has to build a robot that can either score blocks, raise a flag, or hang from a bar above the field in a 3 minute time period.
On November 9th Dark Matter participated in the qualifier held at Linn-Mar along with about 18 other teams. After the initial matches Dark Matter found themselves ranked in 12th place. However they were chosen by an alliance captain and competed in the semifinals. Dark Matter won one of the three rounds and was then eliminated before the finals.
The Linn-Mar Qualifier was a great success. We were lucky enough to have both Linn-Mar FTC teams qualify for state for the fourth year straight! A big thanks to all the teams, parents, and volunteers who came and helped make this event such a great success. Here is the time-lapse we captured throughout the event.
